What is SSIP
SSIP (Safety Schemes In Procurement) was set up in May 2009 and is open to membership from any health and safety assessment scheme and UKAS accredited Certification Bodies.
For use mainly in the construction industry, the scheme helps buyers and suppliers avoid duplication of a variety of health and safety assessment requirements.
This helps to cut costs when tendering for public or private projects by standardising prequalification criteria.
The British Assessment Bureau is a registered member of SSIP and as a UKAS accredited Certification Body we can register you on the SSIP system as part of your ISO 45001 (OHSAS 18001) certification.
Simply let your consultant know that you require SSIP registration at the start of the assessment and we will ensure that an SSIP trained auditor undertakes your third-party audit.
Benefits of SSIP registrationSSIP certification will help your clients (buyers) prequalify your health and safety competence.
The scheme is recognised by CHAS, NHBC, Constructionline, Exor and SafeContractor and provides a consistent, reliable and quality controlled standard of assessment by qualified, competent assessors.
SSIP can be audited at the same time as your ISO 45001 (OHSAS 18001) renewal and is suitable for organisations of all sizes.
