ACS Registrars recognised the importance of joining the SSIP forum (Safety Schemes in Procurement) to provide assessments for our construction contractor clients to enable them to save time and costs, and provide a competitive advantage during these hard economic times.
Construction contractors are increasingly required to show their clients that they have basic health and safety policies in place. Successfully completing a SSIP assessment shows your client that you have been assessed to a recognised stage 1 standard.
How does SSIP work?
Being assessed by an SSIP forum member such as ACS Registrars means that your clients can rest assured that you have been assessed by a competent assessor to a common standard. SSIP forum members have to be audited on an annual basis to ensure that their assessment meets the standards laid down by SSIP. Because ACS Registrars are UKAS Accredited we are negated from the SSlP Auditing procedure.
This standard is recognised by HSE and other accreditation schemes that have quality assurance processes. Because SSIP acts as an umbrella organisation, other schemes are recognised and accepted by all of the others. Therefore as a contractor you fill in far fewer health and safety assessments.
SSIP benefits to Contractors
By successfully achieving SSIP assessment you will reduce the time and cost involved in obtaining multiple assessments. An assessment undertaken can be used to reduce or eliminate the requirements for assessment with another accreditation scheme.
