Frequently Asked Questions
Which standards can the British Assessment Bureau offer Accredited Certification for?
What is UKAS?
UKAS is the only UK Accreditation Body recognised by the International Accreditation Forum (IAF) to assess internationally agreed standards, for organisations like the British Assessment Bureau who provide certification services.
The British Assessment Bureau is a UKAS Accredited Certification Body, so you can be confident that your certification will carry the UKAS crown and tick, to show that the quality of your Certification has been carried out to recognised standards.
What is a Certification Body (CB)?
CB’s, such as the British Assessment Bureau, provide certification services to businesses by auditing their management systems against internationally recognised standards. Our auditors have relevant industry sector experience to audit Management Systems for Quality, Environmental, Health & Safety, Information Security and Vehicle Recovery frameworks.
How do I achieve Certification?
Depending on your current management systems, certification is a straightforward process. Preparation can be carried out internally by yourselves, or by a consultant of your choice. You can read more about the assessment process for each of the standards here:
Will I need a consultant?
If you do not have someone available within your organisation with the appropriate levels of understanding and time to drive the process through, a consultant may be able to help you. We can recommend consultants who have experience within your business sector; however, we cannot provide consultancy ourselves.
How will the British Assessment Bureau help us?
The British Assessment Bureau Auditors will support you throughout the process, with help and guidance using their specific industry sector knowledge, but without offering consultancy. A gap analysis service and training courses are available from our sister company, to help smooth the process to certification.
How long does it take to achieve Certification?
A realistic timescale is between 3 to 6 months, depending on how many standards you want to achieve and your company’s current management system and structure.
How often do I have to get Re-Certified?
Can I transfer my existing Certification to the British Assessment Bureau?
You can transfer your existing certification to us at any time, simply call one of our team, who shall clearly explain the process to you.
How much does Certification cost?
When we have gathered the necessary information about your organisation and requirements, we will send you a guaranteed fixed fee quotation, so you will know exactly how much to budget for your certification. Our fees are based upon the number of days required to Audit your Management Systems, in line with the Mandatory Documents set out by the IAF and regulated by UKAS/ANAB.
